Hello ShannyK-L,

Thank you for visiting my blog. Please do add me to your blog list. I am not sure how much I will be updating the blog because I just moved and my oven now if very tiny! To answer your question on the Dragon Ball Z figures, I used the normal sized figures. I just went to the kids department and they had a pack of two and that is what I used. I had no idea what Dragon Ball Z was before I made this cake. For the cake itself I used a 13 X 9 for the base and a small sized pyrex bowl for the ball. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks again for visiting my blog.

Dave,
I baked cake mix in a 13 x 9 pan and put some of batter in a small pyrex bowl to create that dome on top. I frosted the cake with the green frosting and with a Wilton's tip for grass #233, here is a link to a Youtube video on how to do it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Un9YV5tjog4
I did that all over the cake and then used a star tip on the top for the dome and the stars. I topped it off with store bought Dragon Ball Z figures. Let me know if that is enough information for you to recreate the cake. If you are in the United States, Michael's craft stores has Wilton's butter cream you can buy if you don't want to make your own and you can buy food coloring to color the frosting. Good luck.

Tobias, I used a box cake mix for this cake. I gave detailed instructions on the previous comments as to how I put it together and created the round ball. If you have any further questions after reading the previous comments let me know. Thanks for your comment.

Okay thanks! How much cake mix did you use?

Tobias,
I used one box mix with a 9 x 13 cake pan and a small pyrex bowl. I have the pyrex bowl set of three and I used the smallest one of them and filled it maybe 1/4 full. You really just need to make the round piece. I used the remaining cake mix in the 9 x 13. You could make two boxes if you want your actual cake to be bigger (mine ended up being a bit thin). You could make one cake mix for the 9 x 13 then with the second cake mix you can use it for the bowl and fill it no more than half full, and make cupcakes with the remaining cake mix. Make sure you check your cakes with a toothpick to make sure they are cooked. If the bowl isn't done turn the oven heat down a bit and continue to cook so the middle will cook but it won't overcook the outside. I hope this helps.
